About this dashboard

Out of hours services play a vital role in ensuring patient access to medicines outside normal surgery hours. The Out of Hours Care Report in ePACT2 provides authorised users with detailed information on prescribing activity and associated costs for prescriptions issued by out of hours providers using non-standard FP10 forms (FP10P-REC).

This report captures monthly and cumulative Net Ingredient Cost (NIC) for out of hours prescribing, enabling commissioners and SICBLs to monitor expenditure and identify trends. Data is attributed to the organisation responsible for the out of hours service, with national totals available for unidentified providers. Users can filter by time period and organisation, supporting granular analysis and benchmarking.

The aim of this report is to provide transparency and accountability in out of hours prescribing. It helps organisations assess whether prescribing aligns with clinical guidance and commissioning arrangements, reducing unwarranted variation and improving patient safety. While the report offers valuable financial and operational insights, it should be used alongside other dashboards to provide context and inform strategic decisions.
